STRAIGHT OUT OF THE BLOCKS

Hi Everybody, Thank you all for the amazing response from our last newsletter!

Well done to everyone who competed at the recent cross country events at Sandown (please check out the full report), Albert Park, Lake Wendouree and Anglesea!
For everybody who participated in the relays we would love your feedback regarding the new cross country relay registration and payment procedure!

WAC Working Bee and Bunning BBQ
We are planning a joint Williamstown Little Athletics Club and Williamstown Athletic Club working bee for the coming summer season. This has been planned for the Saturday 2nd of September between 1-4pm. Any time that could be given to the club would be greatly appreciated.

Meanwhile we are holding a Bunnings BBQ in Altona on Saturday October 7th. We would loves some volunteers who would be able to spend 1-2 hours on the day! If you are available please contact Karmel on 0438265146 or select below!

We have a new treasurer and  two new committee members on board!

The committee would love to thank John Gray who has put his hat into the ring to become our new treasurer, Karmel Bartolich who has become key driver for the club and Paul Thomas who continues to show his WAC colours!

Karoline attended Athletics Victoria AGM
The AGM reflected on the past year of athletics in Victoria with a review of the Athletics Victoria Annual 2016-2017 Report. Feel free to have a look here.
Growing your Club Development Workshop - Hobsons Bay
The workshop was not just about growing your membership base but covered equally important issues such as your club's strengths and weaknesses, what opportunities there were out there and what threats may be lurking. We discussed the need for a good code of conduct, how volunteers are acknowledged, possible fundraising ideas and much, much more.

The committee will be using this information to try new approaches to build the club!

Yellow Zone Meeting
Terry attended Yellow Zone Meeting discussing 2017-18 AV Shield with date and format to be finalised shortly.

Club Website Update
The committee is developing a new club website that will be a better resource for our current members and future members!

ON THE TRACK

The date for the 2017-18 track and field season have begun to come out.
The following major events have been locked in!

  • 2018 Victorian State Athletics Championships 02.03.2018 - 04.03.2018
  • 2018 Junior Athletics Championships 14.03.2018 - 18.03.2018
  • 2017-2018 VAL fixture released

Recent Results
Congratulations to both Ella Nickolaus and Celeste Mucci for creating new yellow zone records in the U16 200m hurdles and the U20 long jump respectively.

CURRENT FUNDRASING INITIATIVES

We have applied for 3 grants last month:

  1. Coach development
  2. Spin bikes and updated discus and javelins
  3. Television and external noticeboard

We find out if we are sucessful in November.
